A frost giant adopted by Odin; Loki is the trickster brother of Thor who has appeared through various films in the MCU. He had one of the most extensive character development throughout his tenure that he started as a villain and ended as a hero, or so we all thought, as he found a way to cheat death yet again despite facing his demise from Thanos in Infinity War.

Loki escaped with the tesseract in 2012 during the time travel of the Avengers to supposedly "borrow" the stone from the said timeline but they were unsuccessful as Loki teleported himself somewhere else forcing them to push back in time. As explained throughout the MCU, a ripple through time causes major consequences like creating an alternate timeline.

The canon series start when Loki was last seen: after his escape with the tesseract. It seems that there are watchers of time in the MCU and Loki was high on their list that they apprehended him considering the consequence he had done with messing up with the time stream itself. The official synopsis of the show is as follows:

"Picking up immediately after Loki steals the Tesseract (again), he finds himself called before the Time Variance Authority, a bureaucratic organization that exists outside of time and space, forced to answer for his crimes against the timeline and given a choice: face deletion from reality or assist in catching an even greater threat."
Loki would have to make a deal with the Time Variance Authority as he is given a tough choice of consequences. Given that this version of Loki is fresh from being a villain, there sure are many tricks up on his sleeve that he has yet to show. Will he be betraying the trust given by TVA and turn on them or will he really be a hero this time as the threat is a much greater one?

Loki stars Tom Hiddleston in the titular role along with Owen Wilson as Mobius M. Mobius, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Sophia Di Martino, Wunmi Mosaku, and Richard E. Grant. The series has six episodes lined up.

Loki premieres on June 9, 2011, at 3 AM via Disney+.
