WandaVision has been a wild ride since the beginning of the show and now that the canon series of the Marvel Cinematic Universe is one episode shy before its season finale, some questions longing answers from the inception of the series have been given light and answers. But surely, one episode is not enough to answer all the questions in the pile.
WandaVision has been uncanny since the series arrived on Disney+ and although there are days that the episodes may be confusing, it all makes sense now that the answers to various theories have been given. With only 9 episodes slated for the whole series, the weekly MCU treat only has one left and with the revelations that just arrived, the last episode is expected to be big.
The series follows three weeks after the events of Avengers: Endgame where Wanda Maximoff/ Scarlet Witch and Vision arrived as a newlywed couple in Westview, New Jersey in a strange ‘50s sitcom style of storytelling where the small town has its strange characters such as their nosy neighbor Agnes, the mailman, Dottie, Herb, Norm, and others.

To be honest, if you're not ready to bawl your eyes out, this is the moment for you to skip through this part, and may this serve as a warning to grab some tissues because the episode surely punches straight through the heart. And if you've just finished watching the latest episode, seriously, if you didn't cry, check your heart because it may be stone cold.
That being said, Episode 8 takes a whole walk down to memory lane where Wanda and Agatha Harkness both revisit their past and look into how they both got their powers.
Episode 8 gave us a ton of answers as regards WandaVision and Wanda herself: from the origin story of Wanda to the evolution of her powers to become the Avenger that she is to the part where she grieved for the death of Vision to the creation of the hex to why the sitcoms happened and to how she finally became, lo and behold, Scarlet Witch.
WandaVision Episode 8 Recap
The episode opened in Salem, 1693, where Agatha is being taken by her coven to the stake for her execution as a way of punishment for tapping into a power beyond what they are allowed to channel. Agatha admitted to being a witch and what she has done to improve her powers.
Her coven got a taste of what Agatha was talking about as Agatha channels her purple power and sucked in the life out of the witches holding her at the stake. Their supreme was the last Agatha took on and a supreme of a coven is usually the most powerful witch there is. Still, Agatha outpowered and did the same to her, after which, she took the brooch of the supreme, signifying her being the most powerful witch there is.
Wanda found out that her powers won't work in Agatha's lair and as she's held captive, Wanda insists on finding where her children are while Agatha insisted on knowing how Wanda created the hex and where her powers came from. From a strand of Wanda's hair, Agatha and Wanda took a walk down memory lane, into Wanda's memories.
They first went to where it all started: the day the house of Wanda and her family was bombed. It was shown why Wanda has taken a liking from sitcoms – from her father who takes home various sitcoms for her mother to enjoy.
While the Sokovian family is enjoying watching The Dick Van Dyke show, a bomb landed on their home, killing instantaneously Wanda and Pietro's parents. Another bomb was in their living room showing that it is a bomb from Stark Industries. This tapped into the innate powers of both Wanda and Pietro saving them from the debris and the bombing itself, sheltering and protecting them.
Memory lane was not a walk in the park for Wanda as she is then brought to where Hydra experimented on her and Pietro. It was revealed that many volunteers have been exposed to the Mind Stone from the staff of Loki but none were able to survive – until Wanda.
Wanda seemed to have absorbed the powers of the Mind Stone further amplifying her innate abilities. After her encounter with the Infinity Stone, she was taken into isolation where she continues to watch sitcoms to calm her down.
Then it jumped to the time where she and Vision fell in love. Wanda was watching yet another sitcom and Vision was snooping around. Vision then revealed himself and they talked about the beauty of sitcoms and how these stories worked well.
Vision said he had no family to start with, and orphaned Wanda, who just lost her remaining family with the death of Pietro, felt the same. At that moment, Wanda and Vision shared the moment while watching a sitcom.
Post-Endgame, Wanda proceeds to the S.W.O.R.D. the facility where she, as next of kin to Vision, would want to give Vision the burial he deserves. Director Hayward completely disagrees saying that a ton of vibranium being buried would be such a waste and a potential source of other weapons to be built. Hayward also remarked that Vision is the most intricate sentient weapon ever created.
Wanda, not being able to control her emotions, stormed the place where Vision is and approached his chopped-off body. As she used to do, she put her hands on the forehead of Vision and finally felt the pain of knowing she couldn't feel him anymore. Upset, Wanda left, leaving Vision's body to S.W.O.R.D.
She drove to Westview where it was revealed that Vision bought a lot to build a home for them "to grown old in." (Seriously, this is the most heartbreaking scene in the whole series.) Wanda broke down in tears kneeling and feeling all the grief and pain of knowing that they would not be able to build the home, more so, grow old together.
In her moment of immense pain and grief, Wanda had a phoenix-like transition where all her powers were awakened by her feelings and her powers reached all the nearby areas making it black and white, looking like the sitcoms she used to watch with her family, and brought about the creation of the hex.
She did not only make the hex, she made a version of Vision from her own powers and when Vision finally became whole, he warmly greeted Wanda, and their sitcom life began – a clear showing that Wanda's sitcom life is the dream of the life she never got the chance to live. (If this doesn't pull your heartstrings, go have your feelings checked, please.)
Wanda and Agatha's walk down memory lane ends when Agatha revealed that she holds the twins' captive in some string-like spell tied on the necks of both Billy and Tommy. Agatha found what she was looking for, even calling Wanda a myth who can summon powers of great lengths. She finally declared Wanda, the Scarlet Witch.
WandaVision Episode 8 Mid-Credits Scene
The mid-credits scene shows Hayward on their makeshift base preparing for some sentient weapon that they have been building for quite some time. The whole scene finally revealed the true intention of Hayward – he is not after Wanda all along, he is after Vision in the hex and how he came about.
The scene finally reveals the sentient weapon that they were preparing: White Vision.
White Vision is a direct call back to the Vision Quest storyline of the comics where Vision had a run with the West Coast Avengers. This Vision, to note, is an entirely different character, a cold version of Vision.
WandaVision Episode 9 Theories and What to Expect for the Season Finale
With the upcoming series finale of WandaVision, we all have to expect the unexpected as that is what the whole series gave us throughout the various episodes.
So far, the spoilers that went out in the open, although not entirely correct, got some parts right. Breaking it down, the spoilers and leaks got it right that Agatha channeled into some dark magic to enhance her abilities and took us back to Salem. They got it right that Wanda Maximoff will be getting her comic-based famous moniker of "Scarlet Witch."
Now that Wanda's children are in peril, hell hath fury as a woman scorned, or more accurately, hell hath fury like a mother seeing her kids in danger, Wanda will surely do everything in her powers to save Tommy and Billy.
With Vision, Darcy, Pietro, Jimmy, and Monica missing from this episode, they are expected to appear next episode and know which sides they are really on. Many have been betting that they will all go against Agatha knowing that her powers have sprung from the dark dimension.
Speaking of the dark dimension, another theory that has been banging all over social media is the arrival of Dr. Strange in Westview considering that his mastery of the mystic arts once defeated Dormammu, an entity from the dark dimension.
Dr. Strange is expected to lend a helping hand to Westview and contain the situation, maybe even take Wanda under his wing to master her powers as well.
In another theory, Pietro's character is not just any random person picked out by Agatha. Theories say that he is actually Peter's "sweet dreams" that we know of in the X-Men. But with this theory, it'd be a huge mix-up as it would have both reality and time as he existed in the ‘80s and the current timeline is in 2023. The huge time difference would be a factor.
Theories also sprung with the Nexus commercial from last episode where the Nexus of All Realities bring about a convergence like that explained in Thor: The Dark World. The Nexus of All Realities first appeared in the comics and it is associated with Dr. Strange.
With one episode left, a showdown between Agatha and Wanda is expected. As for the other residents of Westview, they were shown to be just as who they are before, random people within the vicinity who just got into the hex unexpectedly. The mailman, after all, was just a delivery guy from the present. But what baffles most is the absence of Dottie in the regular people around Westview, could she be someone else?
WandaVision Episode 9 Where to Watch
Disney+ holds the exclusive rights to airing Marvel's shows and series and this would mean that WandaVision and its season finale will only be available via an active subscription on Disney+ which is for the amount of $6.99 per month or $69.99 per year to access the shows in their roster.
Disney+ also offers a bundled subscription with Hulu and ESPN+ for a monthly rate of $12.99.
WandaVision Episode 9 Release Date and Release Time
WandaVision Episode 9 will be the series finale and it is scheduled for release next week, Friday, February 26, 2021, at 3 AM EST via Disney+.
As the series is about to end next week, it surely isn't the last we'll be seeing WandaVision as for the following week, Marvel's Assembled, will be airing with their first documentary on the behind-the-scenes of the Marvel Cinematic Universe shows with the first special titled ASSEMBLED: The Making of WandaVision.
ASSEMBLED: The Making of WandaVision will be released on March 12, 2021, via Disney+.
WandaVision Episode 9 Countdown
The series finale arrives in a week and it sure will be a blast given how Episode 8 panned out. In one weeks' time, the conclusion of WandaVision will be on our screens and will be laying down the groundwork for the whole Phase 4 of the MCU.
Recently, it was reported that Phase 4 of the MCU will mostly be dealing with WandaVision's very own Wanda Maximoff/ Scarlet Witch and her character would be essential in building up the post-Infinity Saga and would be vital in setting the stage for Spider-Man 3: No Way Home and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.
