It’s really sugar, spice, and everything nice as The Powerpuff Girls are finally having their very own live-action reboot of series on The CW where the trio will be played by Chloe Bennet as Blossom, Dove Cameron as Bubbles, and Yana Perrault as Buttercup.
The Powerpuff Girls is an animated television series on Cartoon Network which many have grown to love over the years. Created by their Profession Utonium in his attempt to make the perfect little girl where he puts “sugar, spice, and everything nice” altogether, he accidentally knocked on the glass of “Chemical X” into the mixture and three kinder-sized girls came out with superpowers, of pink, blue and green.
Released from 1998 to 2005, the Powerpuff Girls are making their comeback in the city of Townsville with their live-action counterparts of Chloe Bennet, Dove Cameron, and Yana Perrault to fight for the town and once again, save the day.
In an official first look, The CW revealed the iconic trio in their respective colors of pink, blue, and green, all grown up, no longer in their teeny-tiny cure outfits and already in their new-found styles. Also, in a post on TMZ’s official Twitter, a behind-the-scenes photo reveals the girls in their cartoon-inspired costumes.
Also joining the cast would be the original narrator of The Powerpuff Girls, Tom Kenny, with Donald Faison as Professor Drake Utonium, Robyn Lively as Sara Bellum, and Nicholas Podany as Mojo Jojo Jr.
This would not be the first time Bennet and Cameron would be together in one series as they used to play opposite each other in Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD where they portray Daisy Johnson/ Quake, and Ruby Hale respectively. Cameron is also known for her roles in The Descendants and Liv and Maddie. On the other hand, Perrault is making her debut on TV series coming from the Broadway show Jagged Little Pill.
The Powerpuff Girls has yet to have a release date. The filming just began this month.
