Superman & Lois premieres in a week and even before its release, the latest show of The CW is already showing promise with the reviews and ratings at Rotten Tomatoes. Superman & Lois will feature Clark Kent/ Superman and his wife, Lois Lane, as they go back to their quiet home in Smallville.
Rotten Tomatoes have given a "fresh" rating of 89% positive as of the time of writing on the average Tomatometer for all critics, and a whopping 100% from top critics has been given to Superman & Lois.
In one of the reviews, it says that the lead characters of Hoechlin and Tulloch do justice in the portrayal of their characters ever since they entered into the Arrowverse and in Superman & Lois, they seem to have stepped up their game with comfort and chemistry with their co-stars. To add, the review said that Superman & Lois is an "animal of its own."
Superman & Lois forms part of The CW Arrowverse and will be featuring Clark Kent/ Superman, Lois Lane, and their sons, Jonathan and Jordan, as they come home to the idyllic town of Smallville after Clark lost his job at the Daily Planet.
Back in the town where Clark grew up, the family will be facing their biggest challenge ever, perhaps the most relatable challenge for many – the struggles of working parents to their children who are just about to enter adolescence. Given that Superman is their father also gives the family a question as to the possibility of their sons inheriting powers from Clark.
Their quiet life gets upended, however, when a mysterious visitor arrives in town claiming that the world no longer needs Superman. At this point, their tagline of "saving the world starts at home" proves to be true as Superman will be facing an unnamed villain from where he grew up in.
Todd Helbing, the showrunner of the series, said that he would want to make Superman & Lois a little different than other shows, from changing the aspect ratio, to the way the series would be filmed, to the set design itself. Helbing added that they would want to produce a quality series that could equal the competing shows on cable and streams.
Superman & Lois will be airing its 90-minute pilot episode next week on February 23, 2021, at 8 PM EST followed by Superman & Lois: Legacy of Hope at 9:30 PM on The CW.
