Sony just expanded its reach after signing a multi-year deal with one of the largest online streaming sites on the planet, Netflix who acquired streaming rights on Sony's films including that of the sequels of Spider-Man and Venom starting in 2022.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Netflix and Sony had an exclusive first pay window deal for licensing the films to be produced by Sony where Netflix would hold the streaming rights to their films after the theatrical release.

Netflix shared this news as well in their official Twitter page saying that Sony's future films such as Morbius, Uncharted, Where The Crawdads Sing, and Bullet Train would be on Netflix in the future. Their tweet also included the announcement that the future sequels of Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse, Venom, Jumanji, and Bad Boys will be found on the streaming platform as well.

If you're wondering why the whole collection of the Marvel Cinematic Universe can be found on Disney+ except for three titles, The Incredible Hulk, Spider-Man: Homecoming, and Spider-Man: Far From Home, this is because Disney doesn't hold the official distribution and streaming rights of Sony over these films. The Incredible Hulk's distribution rights are still with Universal and Spider-Man and Venom still with Sony.

What effect would this deal have on Venom: Let There Be Carnage and Spider-Man: No Way Home? Well, since both of these films are set for release this year, 2021, it means that they are not included on the agreement. However, if there would be another film in their franchise, that would be affected as the agreement comes into effect starting 2022 onwards.

Venom: Let There Be Carnage is scheduled for release on September 17, 2021. Spider-Man: No Way Home will premiere on December 17, 2021.
