After the hype has been established for the upcoming Powerpuff Girls Live-Action series, it seems that the fans anticipating its release would have to wait a little longer as the pilot episode is undergoing a re-work resulting in the series not airing this fall confirmed by the CEO of The CW, Mark Pedowitz, with an explanation for the reason of the delay.

Following the release of the official first look of the characters, The CW holds the live-action reboot of the Powerpuff Girls on hold shocking those who are anticipating the release of the series. The CW has been busy the last two days ramping up the decisions made by the network, the announcements to be released, and the programs which will be included in their 2021-2022 fall slate.

Still, there are no plans of scrapping the show and it is just delayed for quite some time. The production of the pilot started in April this year and it just didn't work for The CW, the pilot episode will undergo redevelopment and it is planned to shoot the succeeding episodes the following months later this year.

During a press briefing, Pedowitz explained the reason behind the re-work of the pilot episode of Powerpuff Girls live-action reboot which would greatly affect the timeline of the release of the series. According to Pedowitz, Powerpuff is a "powerful property" which should be treated right before it even releases.

Pedowitz said, "The reason you do pilots is that sometimes things miss, and this was just a miss… We believe in the cast completely. We believe in Diablo [Cody] and Heather [Regnier], the writers. We believe in the auspices of Greg Berlanti and Warner [Bros. TV] studios."

Pedowitz stressed the importance of the pilot episode as it is the make-it-or-break-it episode for the whole show, he explained, "in this case, the pilot didn't work… But because we see there are enough elements in there, we wanted to give it another shot. So that's why we didn't want to go forward with what we had. Tonally, it might've felt a little too campy. It didn't feel as rooted in reality as it might've felt. But again, you learn things when you test things out. And so in this case, we felt, let's take a step back and go back to the drawing board."

The cast of Powerpuff Girls live-action includes Chloe Bennet as Blossom, Dove Cameron as Bubbles, and Yana Perrault as Buttercup. Joining them would be the original narrator of The Powerpuff Girls, Tom Kenny, with Donald Faison as Professor Drake Utonium, Robyn Lively as Sara Bellum, and Nicholas Podany as Mojo Jojo Jr.
