Marvel's What If..? Reportedly Scheduled for August 2021

An upcoming animated Marvel series is about to arrive on Disney+ with What If..? having various characters take on a different persona nothing like that in the traditional canon. It is scheduled for Summer 2021 and it seems it has found its release month in August, just a month after Black Widow's release in July.

According to Marvel.com, the series will be happening in the Summer of 2021 with a tag line of "Space. Time. Reality. It's more than a linear path." In a report from EW about the exclusive look for Summer 2021's slate of TV shows, What If..? has been listed for August 2021, seemingly confirming that the original series would be released on the said month.

The premise of the show follows The Watcher who tells the stories of various characters in the MCU playing a rather different role than that in the canon, and heroes and villains become someone else.

In the description from EW, it says, "What if instead of Steve Rogers, Peggy Carter (Hayley Atwell) actually became the first Super Soldier? That creative brainstorming exercise is the heart of What If...?, the Marvel Cinematic Universe's first animated series. The anthology reimagines numerous major events from the movies in game-changing ways, and also features Chadwick Boseman, who was able to reprise T'Challa via voice work before his death."

The project also confirms one of the final performances of the late Chadwick Boseman for the MCU where T'Challa becomes Star-Lord. In the same series, Peggy Carter seems to be the first super soldier in what looks to be the costume of Captain Britain. The Mad Titan is green rather than purple with Gamora instead of Thanos, and there would be Marvel Zombies as well.

Following the trend of the releases of Marvel on Disney+, only the month of May has been vacant considering the release date of Black Widow being pushed back, and in a way to fill the void, they would be releasing a LokiWatch Party in preparation for the series of Loki premiering on June 9. In July, it would be Black Widow's moment and her film would be followed by Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings releasing on September 3.

This leaves the month of August free for What If..? Excited for this crazy exchange of characters? Expect Marvel's What If..? to drop this August, exclusively on Disney+.
