Yet another exciting series is in line for Marvel with Secret Invasion starring everyone’s favorite Samuel L. Jackson returning as Nick Fury in a series on Disney+ where he would be one of the central characters along with Ben Mendelsohn’s Skrull Talos. Recently, Secret Invasion secures two directors with Thomas Bezucha of Let Him Go, and Ali Selim of Hulu’s The Looming Tower.
Introduced in Captain Marvel, the Skrulls are shapeshifting aliens in search for their new home. They have a comic book miniseries wherein the Skrulls secretly replaced various people on Earth with their own kind, even those belonging to Earth’s mightiest heroes.
The Skrull’s Secret Invasion has been teased twice already in the MCU, first in the post-credits scene of Spider-Man: Far From Home where two Skrulls have been pretending to be Nick Fury and Maria Hill. Another is on the post-credits scene of the finale of WandaVision where Monica Rambeau was called by a Skrull telling Monica that someone is waiting for her “up there.”
It could be remembered in Captain Marvel that the Skrulls have a floating airship kind-of-base just outside the orbit of Earth and the remaining Skrulls are presumed to have lived there since their appearance in Captain Marvel which is set in the ‘90s.
The cast of Secret Invasion has been continuously growing as Emilia Clarke, Olivia Colman, and Kingsley Ben-Adir finally joins the MCU through the series.
Secret Invasion is expected to have six episodes in total and with two directors taking the lead in where the series would go, with the producer of the series Kyle Bradstreet of Mr. Robot, it is yet unknown how the two of them would divide the directorial tasks.
Secret Invasion is expected to release in 2022 only on Disney+.
