It’s no question that Marvel Cinematic Universe holds a pool of talented actors and actresses that comes back from time to time after appearing in one film or series. One of the recurring characters in the MCU, Kat Dennings, who play Darcy Lewis, has shared that the unexpected returns of the characters in different films or series prove that they will forever be in the MCU.

Marvel Actors' Unexpected Returns in the Franchise is Proof That They Are 'In the MCU For Life'

Kat Dennings first made her MCU debut in Thor (2011) as Darcy Lewis and appeared again in Thor: The Dark World (2013) and has been in the shadows until WandaVision where she reprises her role after the long wait for her character’s return.

In an interview with TheWrap, Dennings said, “Once you’re in the MCU, you’re in the MCU for life. You never know when you might get a call, but I certainly didn’t expect it.” Dennings added, “‘WandaVision’ was the last one I expected to be in because Darcy has had absolutely no contact with anybody in the sphere of the show.”

Her co-star in WandaVision, Randall Park was also surprised when he got a call that he would be in WandaVision. Park first appeared in Ant-Man and The Wasp as an FBI agent monitoring Scott Lang. And while his character there was hilarious, in WandaVision, his tone is quite serious. Park said he immediately said yes when asked to return.

This is nothing new with Marvel. Recurring characters are no surprise in the MCU. Being on board the MCU, one immediately becomes a part of a family, there’s no escaping it. The trend continues from the films to the series which allowed the expansion of the MCU to the television scene. Once you’re in it, you sign for a deal that could go beyond a one-time appearance.

Recently, in The Falcon and The Winter Soldier, Emily VanCamp returns as Sharon Carter along with Daniel Bruhl as Baron Zemo, and even Georges St-Pierre as Batroc the Leaper. The Dora Milaje reprises their roles as well. Wyatt Russell also shared that he knows that signing for a role in the MCU means being in more than just one project.

In upcoming projects like She-Hulk, Mark Ruffalo will be reprising his role as Bruce Banner along with The Incredible Hulk’s Tim Roth as Abomination. In Captain Marvel 2, Teyonnah Paris’ Monica Rambeau from WandaVision returns.

This strategy of Marvel proves how all these films and shows are completely intertwined with each other and connected in some other ways other than sharing the same title. It shows how even the smallest details are stitched up with the thought that everything is linked from one another from the start.

Keep an eye on every character you encounter because you never know when they’ll return. Even those already dead, like Loki, returns. With Marvel, anything is really possible, especially now that the universe opens to a wider door with the introduction of time travel and the multiverse.

The Falcon and The Winter Soldier is Marvel’s current release with new episodes every Friday on Disney+.
