MCU Finally Addresses Vision Right

WandaVision Episode 3 has finally straightened the long-running confusion on how to address Vision's character.

Vision is not an android nor a humanoid, Vision is a synthezoid.

A synthezoid is closer to being a human than an android. An android is made up of robotic parts that are designed to look like a human being while a syntheziod is composed of organic matter which makes it more similar to a person.

In Marvel comics, Vision is referred to as a synthezoid rather than an android ever since his character debuted. Writers of the comics would always offer clarifications as regards Vision's nature of being a synthezoid in the letter pages of the comics.

No worries as even co-members in the Avengers get it wrong at times. Hawkeye once called Vision an android and Vision and Scarlet Witch called him out to correct the term.

With Wanda properly addressing Vision as a synthezoid in WandaVision, it pays homage and appropriate reflection to the comic origin of Vision's character and it also works as it seamlessly blends into the classic retro style of the series.

In the creation of Vision in the MCU, Vision's body was supposed to be the new host body of Ultron, when the Avengers snatched it, he was made up of Tony Stark's J.A.R.V.I.S AI, with vibranium on his body, and the Mind Stone as the power source.

If Marvel would continue following the comics and putting the stories into WandaVision, it is possible that they could use some of the key elements from it and retcon a new creation story for Vision.

Considering that the series has not explained yet how Vision is alive, they could look into this as one of the possible ways to bringing Vision permanently back into the MCU.

WandaVision Episode 4 will be on Friday, January 29, 2021, via Disney+.
