Is Mephisto in WandaVision? Marvel Hides Easter Egg Clue in Poster

Agnes hit the point; the devil is indeed in the details.

As WandaVision approaches the midseason mark, more and more details are flying in and filling in the questions and gaps that the show has been having since its premiere. From the classic sitcom-style to the Marvel that we know real quick, WandaVision continues to unravel its wonders except for one: the main antagonist.

With four out of nine episodes already released, the weekly treat of WandaVision changed its phase giving us the first three episodes full of mysteries and strangeness in the classic sitcom-style teasing what the series would be all about then the fourth episode breaking the chains and unleashing more of what is really happening.

In the recently released poster of WandaVision, what appears to be a floral household wallpaper holds an easter egg that eagle-eyed fans have spotted: a sinister face hiding in the background of what seems to be Mephisto.

Between Vision and Agnes, the face is something like that of a devil literally hiding in the details just as Agnes hinted in Episode 2. It should be noted that there are little to no coincidences especially in the MCU. It would be insane to treat it as just an oversight because the placement is so strategic, it seems like it is intended to be there and be seen.

The absence of a clear antagonist drives fans and viewers to theories of who could it be. While in episode 4, all fingers started to point to Wanda, there surely is more to the story than what meets the eye.

Wanda may have control over most of Westview but it still cannot clearly explain how she managed to have a whole town in her hands and how everyone outside of it seems to have no idea that there exists a town called Westview.

When a door closes, a window opens. Wanda is emotionally unstable and she is vulnerable, she could have easily been a window opening for a bigger villain in the story. Given her tragic past, she must have been spotted as a way to slide into the world to become a threat.

It could be remembered from Captain America: Civil War that Wanda means no harm to people when she dreaded what happened when she accidentally destroyed a whole building, killing its innocent occupants while trying to save others during Crossbones' suicide. She was literally brought to her knees with guilt.

Referencing this, Wanda would not do the same thing again for the people of Westview only to haunt her back. This could mean that there is someone else pulling the strings and possibly using Wanda's own what-ifs and could-have-been to illicit their own motive.

This brings us to Mephisto, Marvel's own devil, an immortal demonic entity that manipulates magic: one Wanda possesses. Mephisto can project illusions, manipulate memories, and alter time. He can also shape-shift and bring about havoc wherever he is.

Given his abilities, and Wanda's ability to alter reality, Mephisto could bring into life whatever sinister plan he has to the universe through Wanda.

With an almost similar set of skills, Mephisto could manipulate Wanda by giving her the perfect life she has been wanting her whole life. As earlier stated, Wanda is emotionally vulnerable. Tap into it and Mephisto could work his wonders.

More signs point to Mephisto like the prominent hexagonal shapes throughout the series. With 666 as the devil's number and the shape has six sides, theories arise that Mephisto is behind the events in Westview.

Bringing in one of the most powerful demonic forces into MCU could mean that it doesn't end in WandaVision; that it is just the beginning of another chapter of the universe. Now that WandaVision kicks-off the fourth phase of the MCU, it would make so much sense to introduce a villain as threatening as Mephisto.

Agnes being in the poster also means that her character is more than just a nosy neighbor trying to make a place in Wanda's new life. Agnes could be either a friend or foe. She could bring Wanda to Mephisto or try to stop him alongside her.

With the placement of the easter egg in the photo so close to Agnes, it could mean that she has a part to play in the inclusion of the devil in her life.

Given her remarks that the details are not only where the devil is, could she be aware that somewhere in Westview lies the lair of Mephisto? Is Agnes trying to call Wanda's attention for help or is she an asset of the devil?

Could he be hiding in plain sight or could he be acting as another character in the series? The answer lies in the following episodes of WandaVision.
