Hulu To Increase Subscription Rates

Hulu remains to be one of the largest streaming services in existence today and it is not a good day for the subscribers or those who plan to subscribe as Disney revealed on Tuesday that the streaming platform will be increasing its subscription rates which will make it more expensive especially for those who pay on a monthly.

In an announcement by Disney, Hulu will be having a price hike, increasing the monthly subscription by an additional $1. That makes the standard, ad-supported version cost from $5.99 every month to $6.99. The ad-free version will go from $11.99 to $12.99 monthly. What will not be affected by the increase in the price would be that of Hulu + Live TV plan.

While it may not seem that significant, a dollar of increase per month, looking at how overtime it would be equivalent to one whole month of subscription could make one rethink about getting a plan or sticking to the plan they already have. That additional dollar may hurt the number of subscribers for Hulu. Still, the streaming platform will continue with the price hike.

On Disney's side, however, it would be beneficial for them as the Disney Bundle streaming option has the same price tag and it will not have any increase at all. The bundle has an ad-supported Hulu, Disney+, and ESPN+ altogether and it will remain at $13.99 monthly. If one would avail of this, it would one more than a few dollars each month to have all three in one bundle.

The price hike will be effective on October 8, 2021, so those who wish to escape the upcoming price hike could still have the option to enjoy a month without the increased rates or get an annual subscription before the date of the effectivity of the price increase. Hulu's ad-supported version costs $59.99 annually. The Hulu + Live TV plan costs an annual subscription of $64.99.
