In Higehiro Episode 9, Past, you know it gets serious when Muse Asia puts a warning about the content of the episode, it picks up where it left as Ichigo, the older brother of Sayu stands on their doorstep saying “I have come to pick up Sayu.” He found out that Yoshida and Sayu live under one roof. This means that Sayu would have to face life as it was again, in Hokkaido, with her family.
While she talks to her brother, Sayu revealed the reason why she ran away: she felt depressed at home, nothing changed until Yoshida arrived in her life which made her want to be a better person. His brother noticed the change in her but gave Sayu just one week before she really gets home.
Sayu finally had the courage to tell her past. She didn’t get along with her mom, entered the school without any passion, no friends, always alone. She also shared the friendship she found with Yuko. When Yuko was bullied, Yuko did not take it well and it got the best of her. Yuko jumped off and took her life right before the eyes of Sayu telling her to show she could shine more without her.
The issue made her family affected as well. The blame was shifted all to Sayu and she finally burst into tears in front of her mom and told her that Yuko was bullied because they were friends, that is something they would never understand. She packs a bag and leaves. Ichigo asked what happened and she told him that their mom accused her of killing Yuko. Ichigo gave her money to find some distance.
Sayu felt really hopeless and when her money ran out, she went from city to city and guys took advantage of her. Yoshida and Asami were in shock as to what Sayu went through. Sayu revealed that Yoshida was the only one who never did that to her then Sayu had a breakdown. Asami asks Yoshida what he would do, and when Yoshida said it was a family business that needs to be solved on its own, Asami claps back at him asking what he would want to do to help Sayu.
