As announced at the D23 Expo in 2019, the Eternals will be joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe soon with a staggering headline of stars carrying the new characters to be introduced in the film.

One of the biggest names to join the Eternals is Salma Hayek, known for her breakthrough role as Frida Kahlo in Frida.

The bombshell beauty is introduced as one of the Eternals donning the suit of Ajak, the Eternal who possesses the ability to communicate with the Celestials, cosmic energy manipulation, and molecular manipulation.

Ajak, along with the other Eternals, also has near-immortality, superhuman strength, durability, and stamina, and flight. Ajak is also highly adept at hand-to-hand combat and wrestling.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the supposed November 2020 release of the Eternals was pushed to a later date as Marvel is pacing its theatrical releases based on the status of the ongoing pandemic and pressing health concerns.

Salma Hayek has long expressed her excitement to be part of the Eternals treating it as a landmark role for her to play a superhero role at the age of 54. She was one of the first people cast by Marvel to be a part of the film and she just can't wait to be a superhero for the first time in her colorful career as an actress.

She added that while it was hard to keep it a secret, she kept it hidden until the official announcement of the film and its cast. Hayek is ecstatic when she found out she would be playing such a role that its delay tested her patience.

Anxious about the halt of the production, Hayek expressed that two years of waiting for the film is extremely hard given that she was one of the first to know about the film.

With her co-actors being big Hollywood stars, she is also thrilled to work with them for the film but now all they can do is wait for the green light to proceed with the production.

Salma Hayek also gave nothing but applause to their director, Chloé Zhao, whom she called extraordinary in giving life to the Eternals with her plans for the film. Zhao recently got praised by none other than Marvel Studios boss Kevin Feige for having the best pitch Marvel has had in years.

Salma Hayek premieres in the Eternals as Ajak with Angeline Jolie as Thena, Richard Madden as Ikaris, Kumail Nanjiani as Kingo, Lauren Ridloff as Makkari, Brian Tyree Henry as Phastos, Lia McHugh as Sprite, Don Lee as Gilgamesh, Gemma Chan as Sersi, Kit Harrington as Dane Whitman, and Barry Keoghan as Druig.

The Eternals is slated for a theatrical release in late 2021.
