Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy stays in place as The Walt Disney Company Chief Executive Officer Bob Chapek silences the idea of firing Kennedy by saying that Kennedy will continue to oversee the production of the Star Wars titles under Disney for the next years to come.

The Walt Disney Company's 2021 Annual Meeting of Shareholders was held on March 9, 2021. In the question-and-answer portion of the meeting, a question was raised for Chapek if Disney would be firing Kennedy and let Dave Filoni or Jon Favreau step up and fill in the shoes of being the president of Lucasfilm.

Chapek immediately dismissed the notion and said that Disney is beyond thrilled to have the talent of Kathy Kennedy is running Lucasfilm and that Disney is looking forward to continuing working with her in directing the activities of the Lucasfilm organization in the future.

The issue was heightened with the sentiment of some Star Wars fans who are unhappy with the direction of the title ever since it has been under Disney in 2012. After Star Wars has been at the helm of Disney, Disney released an impressive line-up of Star Wars Expanded Universe which is non-canon, and giving the title a rebranding of Star Wars Legends banner.

The following year, the Star Wars sequel trilogy of The Force Awakens was launched, with the following release of The Last Jedi and The Rise of Skywalker. Star Wars standalone films were released as well with Solo: A Star Wars Story, and Rogue One. The films don't stop there as the upcoming Rogue Squadron of Patty Jenkins and an untitled Taika Waititi film are also lined up.

Aside from films, Star Wars of Disney also released on television various titles such as Star Wars Rebels, Forces of Destiny, the new season of The Clone Wars, Galaxy of Adventures, Resistance, Jedi Temple Challenge, and The Mandalorian. Slated as well are The Book of Boba Fett, Obi-Wan Kenobi, Ahsoka, The Bad Batch, Andor, Visions, Lando, and Rangers of the New Republic.

All these shows on the slate are expected to be overseen by Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy.
