Giving the origin story of the stylish villain of the 101 Dalmatians, Cruella just released the film of how Estella made her way to being the Cruella de Vil we all know today. The film has received great reviews and is making a promise on its theatrical release as well as on Disney Plus Premier Access but for those who would want to wait it out until it would be available for free, Disney+ announces that it will be soon.
Receiving a 73% score on Rotten Tomatoes and having various critics amazed as to how the film is acted, styled, and crafted, Cruella gives yet another villain-centered film exploring how does a person becomes such. As for Cruella de Vil, her roots started in the 1970s in London.
Estella is a young grifter who perseveres and determines to be a staple name in the fashion industry in the middle of the punk rock revolution, she makes herself known by walking through a social event and making sure she would be noticed with the amazing couture she was wearing that fashion legend Baroness von Hellman (Emma Thompson) could not ignore.
One of the most notable features of the film would be the styling of the dresses to be worn by the characters thanks to two-time Oscar-winning costume designer Jenny Beavan. The film also has its very own soundtrack with "Call Me Cruella" by award-winning artist Florence + The Machine.
The film is made available for those who opt to stay at home through Disney Plus Premier Access for an additional price of $30 on top of the monthly subscription price. For those who don't want to go to theaters just yet and would opt to wait for the film's free release, it has been confirmed that it will be made available on Disney+ on August 27, 2021, three months after the release of the film.
Cruella is now in theaters as well as on Disney Plus Premier Access.
