UPDATE: Will There Be a Season 2 of The Duke of Death and His Maid? Here's What We Expect to Happen After Season 1 Ends

The Duke of Death and His Maid is among the Summer Season's shorter anime, that will wrap up with a total of 12 episodes. Unless the J.C. Staff production decides to make big changes to the ongoing manga and provide its own conclusion, it's unlikely that Season 1 will end with the Duke breaking his curse and marrying his beloved Alice. So, will there be a Season 2 of The Duke of Death and His Maid, and when will it release?

September 2021 UPDATE: Shorty after the last episode of The Duke of Death and His Maid was released, a second season was announced! The anime already has a MyAnimeList entry, so, while the release date is uncertain, we hope it won't be too long, hopefully late 2022 or 2023.

So far, a second Season for the supernatural romantic comedy has not been officially announced. While the show is not the most eventful of the year, it's excellent at depicting funny and heartwarming day-to-day interactions. Still, The Duke of Death and His Maid didn't end up being the most popular anime of the season, even though many would argue that it's among the most entertaining ones.

The anime adaptation has already trimmed several of the slice-of-life moments that did not significantly advance the plot. This means that the show is at least likely to conclude by adapting a manga chapter that will feel like a natural pause, likely a shocking revelation about the witch who cursed the Duke, and a renewal of his and Alice's promise to each other, to break the curse and stay together until the end.

But as the manga has yet to reach its conclusion, the possibility of a Season 2 is always open, until we're told otherwise. As the Shinigami Bocchan to Kuro Maid manga isn't top in sales, nor is the anime the most high-ranking at 7.26/10 on MyAnimeList, we expect that other, more popular shows will be prioritized for adaptation.

While there's no sure proof way to predict whether a second season of The Duke of Death and His Maid is hitting our screens anytime soon, the manga is thankfully going strong, and it will likely offer a much-needed conclusion to the Duke's plight.
