Episode 8 of The Promised Neverland Season 2 was aired today with more shocking revelations about Norman. Compared to the more quiet Episode 7, the eighth episode was action-packed and fast-paced. Manga fans who dislike season 2 which is different from the manga might find the newest developments rushed, but it will be hard no to worry all week about that cliffhanger. Here is everything you need to know about The Promised Neverland Season 2 Episode 9:
Episode 8 begins with a flashback: it's revealed that after his supposed shipment, Norman was sent to live with a man called Peter Ratri who forced Norman to undergo tests. In this new, even more, nightmarish type of farm, horrible experiments were performed on humans, both children, and adults, in order for Ratri to eventually achieve full control over the farm system.
Norman managed to escape by blowing up the farm, taking the few survivors with him. However, the experiments he suffered left him severely ill and coughing blood, which leads him to believe he might die soon. He wants to exterminate all demons so that Emma and the other children can live safely even without him.
Meanwhile, Emma and her friends find Sonju and Mujika and the pair agrees to help, but at that moment Emma finds out that Norman actually went along with his plan without consulting her. By activating explosives with the potion he has invented, he makes the demons degenerate to animal-level sentience and they immediately start preying on each other, making them easy targets for Norman to kill.
Norman realizes he might have made a mistake when he sees the blind demon priest who had kindly interacted with Emma, not knowing she was a human child. The priest protects a little demon girl, believing her to be Emma. When she starts degenerating he uses his blood to get her back to normal, revealing his blood has magical properties, like Mujika's.
At that point, Emma returns and sees what Norman has done. Emma enigmatically says that this time she won't let Norman go alone: but what does she mean by that? Does she have a plan? 11 episodes seem too few to reach a satisfying conclusion, especially since the children's foster mother, Isabella, is still unaccounted for after her quick appearance in an earlier episode. Still, we can't wait to see how this season is going to conclude.
