Shaman King (2021) Overview and Episode 10 Recap
Shaman King is based on a 1998-2004 manga marketed as shonen. The manga received an anime adaptation while still ongoing, meaning that the ending the creators intended for us never made it to our screens. The 2021 version is a remake, here to make amends.
In Shaman King, we follow Yoh, who wants to become the most powerful shaman; a being with the ability to summon spirits and manipulate the world according to their will. To achieve his dream, Yoh must come victorious out of a competition that only takes place once every 500 years.
Episode 10 was quite dialogue-heavy but seems to be building up to something great for later on. There was a fight with Boz, about whom fans don't care as much as for other characters. Tao Ren returned to China for a while, came to terms with his errors, and is hopefully built up to be an interesting character who will prove his abilities to the world. For all the build-up, the episode suggested a point of no return might be coming soon, and longtime fans are here for that.
