There seems to be a number of patterns with Isekai anime – works in which a character is either transported into a magical world or dies and gets a second chance through reincarnation. One is long titles. Think of That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime. Moreover, many Isekai works tend to be based on light novels before getting manga and, finally, anime adaptations. It looks like moving to another world is a popular theme when it comes to Japanese light novels.

The Saint's Magical Power Is Omnipotent is a 12-episode Isekai anime show by studio Diomedea which falls under the shojo umbrella, having a female main character with magical powers but focusing just as much on her new friendships and potential for romance after she finds herself in a magical world, where she's summoned to act like a saint, and help others. The show definitely ticks the "long title" box. So, is it also based on a light novel or manga, and is it finished or ongoing?

If you are already watching the show on Funimation and want more content, we have good news for you. The Saint's Magical Power Is Omnipotent is based on a light novel series written by Yuka Tachibana and illustrated by Yasuyuki Syuri. As is the case with other Isekai works, including Mushoku Tensei and the similarly themed Ascendance of a Bookworm, it first appeared in the user-generated website Shosetsuka ni Naro. Later, it was acquired by Fujimi Shobo.

So far, there have been seven volumes, the latest of which was just published on May 8, 2021. Of these, three volumes are already available in English, while the fourth will be released in English on the 19th of October 2021.

Unsurprisingly, the success of the light novel was followed by a manga, illustrated by Fukiazuki, which started its run in 2017. So far, there have been 5 volumes. Both light novel and manga are currently ongoing, meaning that there's plenty of potentials for the story to take turns we might not have imagined yet.

Sei, who starts off as an unassuming office worker, wouldn't have dreamed that being summoned into a new world, and into a new career, as an extremely strong magic user would be so enjoyable. The dangers she has to navigate are significant, but her journey entails adventure, new friendships, and even love.

Other anime you can watch this season, that is also based on manga are To Your Eternity and Shadows House.
