Fruit Basket Season 3 Episode 10 Recap
Warning: If you have yet to watch Fruits Basket Season 3 Episode 10, you might want to skip to the next section: there will be spoilers below. Otherwise, do have a look as a lot happens in this episode.
In the manga, Tohru's time in the hospital felt like it dragged a bit too long, possibly due to different choices regarding the order of some events. Here, we fast forward to the day before she's discharged - Arisa and Hanajima are around to help her, but Kyo has been missing for days.
Akito approaches Tohru's best friends, admitting she accidentally caused Tohru to be injured and telling them that Kureno, whom Arisa loves, is also in the hospital because she stabbed him. Arisa visits Kureno, who is still loyal to Akito and believes the last thing he can do for her is to leave her sight so that she doesn't have to remember her guilt. Arisa finally confesses to Kureno, declaring that she'll go with him or wait for him, as long as she can be a part of his life from now on.
An irritable Kyo finally makes it home, and Yuki decides to confront him. Seeing that Kyo still beats himself up for failing to protect Tohru, Yuki reminds him that Tohru doesn't need a superhero. Kyo could never have protected her from falling from a cliff, but he can make her happy just by being himself. Kyo admits that he was always jealous of Yuki who seemed to have everything he lacked.
In response, Yuki tearfully admits that he felt jealous of Kyo because he seemed to have what Yuki lacked, so the two finally reconcile, realizing they should live as the best versions of themselves, not as what they wish they were.
Before going to confess his love for Tohru, Kyo confronts his father who wants him locked up for the death of his mother, but Kyo defends his right to live freely. From his father's wording, Kyo finally understands that it was his father, not himself who made his mother so miserable. This understanding - and Akito's decision to release him - set Kyo free to go to Tohru, but when she sees him, she runs away in shame. Meanwhile, Yuki receives a call from Machi who hopes to see him soon, and he runs to meet her.
