A Court of Silver Flames, the fourth installment in Sarah J. Maas's series, A Court of Thorns and Roses, is one of the most anticipated YA books of 2021. The series has been extremely popular and highly visible in blogs and bookstagram accounts since the release of the first book in 2015. Thousands of YA Fantasy fans have eagerly followed Feyre, a mortal huntress who is swept into the faerie lands of Pythian and is eventually resurrected as a High Fae, reigning alongside her mate, Rhysand.

Apart from the main trilogy (consisting of A Court of Thornes and Roses, A Court of Mist and Fury and A Court of Wings and Ruin), Mass has also published A Court of Frost and Starlight which gives readers an additional glimpse in the lives of their favourite characters after the events of the main trilogy. However, a common complaint was that this last addition didn't do much to take the story further. A Court of Silver Flames might be coming to make amends.

A Court of Silver Flames Release Date

Discussions about a book focusing on Feyre's sister, Nesta, have been on the table for quite some time. Comments on the book's Goodreads page go as far back as 2016, but we finally have an official release day. According to Goodreads, A Court of Silver Flames, which won't come out in the 26th of January, as was initially announced, is expected to hit our bookshelves in less than a month, on the 16th of February 2021.

A Court of Silver Flames Sneak Peek

In November 2020, author Sarah J. Maas shared the first sneak peek of A Court of Silver Flames on her Instagram account, teasing that the short passage is about Nesta and her love interest, Cassian. Maas stated that she loves the chemistry between the two. A second sneak peak followed a month later. While the first seemed to focus on Nesta's love life, this one was all about empowerment, suggesting character development besides love. The final sneak peak featured fan favourite Azriel and was posted on Winter Solstice, an important celebration in Pythian.

A Court of Silver Flames Spoilers

After all that Feyre and Rhysand have been through in the original trilogy, many fans believe they deserve their happy ending, and the author seems to agree. Rather than revisiting Feyre's story for yet another time, Maas chose to focus on her older sister, Nesta.

There is no doubt that Nesta has been through a lot too. She started the series as a cold and selfish character but showed care for her sister later on. She increasingly becomes more tolerant to the world of the Faerie that she has to accept due to her sister's involvement… But when she is thrown into the Cauldron, a magical artefact that turns her into a Fae against her will, things become more complicated. A Court of Frost and Starlight reveals that Nesta has become seclusive and her emotional health has deteriorated. Given that, in her previous books, the author hasn't shied away from emotional pain, we can assume that things might get worse for Nesta in A Court of Silver Flames before they get better.

"Rough year, he almost said. Because that beautiful face was indeed pale, thinner than it had been before the war, her lips bloodless, and those eyes… Cold and sharp, like a winter morning. No joy, no laughter, in any plane of her exquisite face."
