86 Episode 4 entailed some serious character development for Lena. To treat the soldiers of district 86 as humans might have been all she wanted. But as a person belonging to her Republic's elite, she still saw others from her own privileged viewpoint and has to do a lot of work if she's going to really help 86.
After having the main character do some serious reevaluation, her dynamics with Shin and his group might change, and the action is likely to pick up a bit. So far, 86 has been a bit unusual in its pacing and emotional intensity, since the two protagonists haven't met in person. Even so, there are no doubts about their chemistry, and we can only hope for a meeting soon.

86 Anime Overview and Episode 4Recap
In 86, the Republic of San Magnolia is at a supposedly bloodless war with the neighboring Giadian Empire, fought entirely by unmanned machines - at least this is what the Republic claims.
But in truth, no war is without casualties. The Republic has 85 known territories, the inhabitants of which live in safety and relative luxury despite the war. Few people know about the existence of a secret sector, the titular 86th.
The 86th territory's young people are the ones forced to fight in the supposedly unmanned drones. If they die, they aren't even written down as casualties; the Republic treats them as livestock.
86 is based on a light novel by Asato Asato, and the first cour is going to have 11 episodes.

In Episode 4, Theo, one of the soldiers from district 86, confronts Lena, following the death of one of their comrades. Theo, also known by the code name Laughing Fox, accuses Lena of not seeing the 86 soldiers as human either since she never thought to ask their names.
This incident leaves Lena very troubled and forces her to do some serious work, confronting her preconception. Although both her uncle and her best friend advised her not to come any closer to the soldiers, as she's unable to truly help them, Lena decides differently.
She calls Shin and apologizes for her mistakes, asking to know the names of everyone in the unit. Shin reveals that he's been in many different units and has always been the sole survivor. When an 86 soldier dies, their surviving comrades carve their name on a piece of their equipment and always carry it with them. Shin carries more than 500 fallen fellow soldiers, hence his code name - Undertaker.
86 Anime Episode 5Release Date
86 Episode 5, titled "I'm With You," is going to be released on Sunday, the 9th of May in Japan. This translates to the 8th of May in many other time zones, including those in the UK and the US/Canada.
