Before it even aired, 86 was highly anticipated and the first episodes did not disappoint. While not particularly eventful, they set the scene for what will be an exciting dystopian premise about otherness and the struggle for freedom.
In Episode 2, Lena proved herself to be a strong and brave character who defies her society's expectations. Her interactions with the characters from area 86 are interesting, and I definitely look forward to seeing her meeting them in person.

86 Anime Overview and Episode 2 Recap
In 86, the Republic of San Magnolia is at a supposedly bloodless war with the neighboring Giadian Empire, fought entirely by unmanned machines.
But in truth, there is no such thing as a war with no casualties. The Republic has 85 known territories which live in safety, being sufficiently defended. Few people know about the existence of a secret sector, the titular 86th.
The 86th territory's young people are the ones forced to fight in the supposedly unmanned drones. If they die, they aren't even written down as casualties; the Republic treats them as less than human, simply because they are not silver-haired like the people of the other districts.
In Episode 1, Lena, a noble military officer, becomes a Handler of a unit comprised of "86" warriors lead by a young man, Shin known as The Undertaker. In Episode 2, Lena becomes more confident in her role. The people of 86, who usually liked to torment Handlers, start warming up to her due to her kindness and insistence to treat them well, defying her superiors.
During a history class for young Handler recruits, Lena overtakes the conversation, letting her fellow Handlers know that the supposedly unmanned drones are actually manned by teenagers like themselves. The Republic simply needed someone to sacrifice, so it revoked the rights and citizenships of those without silver hair and eyes.
No longer counting them among humans, the Republic could then ignore their deaths and avoid registering them as fatalities. Lena urges her fellow Handlers to treat the people of 86 as humans.
Lena is confident that her uncle, an officer, won't let her suffer repercussions due to her outburst. But will the Republic let her get away so easily? Stay tuned to find out!
