Lucasfilm: News of Star Wars Spinoff Films Being Cancelled is ‘Inaccurate’; Non-Trilogy Films Still in the Works

News came out yesterday that Lucasfilm was dropping priority for anthology Star Wars movies so they could focus on the bigger trilogy movies, but ABC has come out to report that the reports were inaccurate.

Fans were lead to believe that Lucasfilm had put the anthology movies on hold to focus on the trilogies of Rian Johnson, David Benioff, and D.B. Weiss. As it turns out, there are still movies outside of those trilogies that are being worked on. ABC writes:

Lucasfilm told ABC News there are still "multiple" Star Wars films currently in development that have not been officially announced. Those projects are moving forward separate from an already-announced "Star Wars" trilogy being overseen by "The Last Jedi" director Rian Johnson and another series of movies from "Game of Thrones" producers David Benioff and D.B. Weiss.

This is good news for the fans who were eager for the announcement of a Kenobi movie. This also means that the Boba Fett movie could still be underway.

After the underperformance of Solo in the box office, a lot of people were worried that Lucasfilm was acting too rashly by putting all the other anthology movies on hold. Hopefully we get an official announcement from Lucasfilm soon to clarify which movies are happening and which aren't.

SDCC 2018 isn't too far off, so hopefully the make an announcement there.

No announcement has been made about the release of the next Star Wars anthology movie.
