Sound the alarms, it's time for another new isekai anime announcement!

Adapting the light novel series Seirei Gensouki - Spirit Chronicles, a brand new promotional video has revealed that the television anime adaptation will premiere before the end of 2021!

In the series, the main character is an orphaned street urchin named Rio. At the age of seven, he remembers he isn't who he thinks he is. In fact, he's actually the reincarnation of a Japanese university student who died in a tragic accident. Not only that, but he also discovers that he possesses amazing magical powers which he uses to help with solving the case of a young girl being kidnapped. As a reward for his amazing deed, this kid who has known nothing but hardship in his new life is enrolled in a prestigious school filled with the children of nobles!

TMS Entertainment will be the primary animation studio behind this one, though studio Wao World is listed as a collaborator. Osamu Yamasaki is the director and will work with the team of Mitsutaka Hirota, Megumu Sasano, and Yoshiko Nakamura to pen the scripts. The character designs are being provided by Kyoko Yufu and last, Yasuyuki Yamazaki is composing the background music.

Also, as revealed in the promotional video, the cast list reads as follows (character names first):

Rio/Haruto Amakawa: Yoshitsugu Matsuoka

While it appears to be another generic isekai on the surface with a young man discovering that he's actually completely overpowered in a fantasy world, the trailer embedded above gives me hope this series is going to do something different and impress all of us despite it being "just another isekai". Of course, I could be way off course and be totally and completely wrong about that, so it's worth taking my opinion with a grain of salt. Regardless, we'll see if I'm right later this year after they announce a firm premiere date.
