Created by Tomohito Oda, the shonen comedy manga series Komi Can’t Communicate has been running in Weekly Shonen Sunday since May 2016 with 20 volumes out in Japan as of February 2021. This is a series that you can describe as having a groundswell of support with the series recently being voted as the series manga readers most want an anime adaptation of.
In the series, the main character is a girl named Komi who, on her first day of high school, becomes overwhelmingly popular because of her perceived beauty and quiet elegance. What people don’t realize, however, is that Komi is actually terribly shy and has serious problems with communicating. The only person who knows this is her neighbor in class who attempts to help her on her quest to make 100 friends.
Running Weekly Shonen Sunday magazine, the new chapter is set to be released on Sunday, March 28th.
The new issue of Weekly Shonen Sunday should hit newsstands in Japan at 12 am on Sunday. Unfortunately, since this series is not being legally simulpubbed by anyone, it will be a few months before we see an official legal translation released on this side of the Pacific.
While no specific spoilers have been released for the chapter, it’s worth noting that the author said that the love triangle would be settled around Valentine’s Day season and the preview at the end of chapter 297 states that ‘Valentine’s is coming’. Could this mean that we’ll be seeing the conclusion of a major plot point?
In chapter 297, Shousuke goes on a class trip to Okinawa and there are plenty of people who are vying for his attention, including more than one girl from his class. As stated though, the most important part of this chapter isn’t the content of the chapter itself but more the preview for the next chapter, which could prove to be a huge hint on what’s coming in future chapters.
