How Many Episodes Will Season 1 of Bakuten!! Anime Have?

The new original sportsanime series Bakuten!! is off to a flipping great start with the first episode presenting a fully choreographed men's rhythmic gymnastics routine that floored not only the main character, Shotaro but also many members of the audience who might have never taken the time to watch this sport before!

In the first episode of this gymnastics series (the second men's gymnastics series to air in the noitaminA block within the last year), we meet Shotaro who has spent the last three years of his junior high career bench-warming for his school's baseball team. Before that he did soccer and before that he did swimming. He knows he wants to be an athlete but has yet to find the sport that he feels the most comfortable or really excels at. This all changes the day he stumbles across a high school men's gymnastics meet and watches a floor routine which changes his life forever.

Animated by Zexcs and featuring Toshimasa Kuroyanagi as the director working off scripts penned by Toshizo Nemoto, this series has the potential to be one of the standouts from this season which is already packed to the gills with plenty of other great series including at least one other sports series (which, frankly, isn't nearly as good so you should just watch this one instead anyway), that's an accomplishment! Bakuten!! has serious potential to be the series with the most amount of heart this season, but we'll see if they are able to follow up on that potential and stick the landing as it were.

More importantly than that, though, this series is only pushing further my thought that we've entered a new age of anime with the start of this decade: original stories. Yes, we're still going to get plenty of isekai series every season (that's not going away anytime soon), along with plenty of manga and light novel adaptations, we're seeing more and more original stories get aired which makes me very happy to see.

How Many Episodes Will Season 1 of Bakuten!! Anime Have?

Now for the big question; Bakuten!! will air for 12 weekly episodes, which means that the series will finish airing in early June 2021.
