With the conclusion of the first cour, the fantasy isekai anime series So I’m a Spider, So What? will take a weeklong break before continuing on with its second half. They have filled the first cour with twists and turns, starting with our main character being reincarnated into the body of a weak dungeon spider and having to figure out how to survive as best as possible. Meanwhile, her classmates were mostly born into the lives of riches, nobility, and sometimes even royalty.
No one said life was fair, but at least it can sometimes spread the misfortune across the board as our main character’s bully was also reincarnated into a less than desirable form: a newborn Earth Wyrm that is being kept as a pet. What has followed is a thrilling and fun adventure about the main spider trying to figure out how to level up in a world that would rather see her die.
Originally a light novel series created by Okina Baba (writer) and Tsukasa Kiryu (illustrator), the series is still ongoing and is up to 14 volumes in Japan as of January 2021. The novels are being released in English by Yen Press, who are up to 11 volumes as of March 2021.
The anime adaptation was announced in July 2018 and the first season was all set to premiere in 2020 before the worldwide pandemic hit and delayed the series until 2021. Studio Millepensee is producing the animation with Shin Itagaki as the director working off scripts overseen by Okina Baba and Yuichiro Momose. The series has been simulcast on Crunchyroll from the beginning.
We can confirm that the series will air for 24 episodes. It was announced after episode 12 that the series would take a one-week break but then the next episode, episode 13, will air on April 9th and will continue to stream on Crunchyroll.
