Kevin Smith Says He’ll Be Okay With Never Directing For Marvel, DC, Star Wars Or Star Trek

Some directors might constantly be praying for the day to be offered the chance to direct a film in their favorite franchise, but for the ultimate pop culture fan Kevin Smith, not being able to direct any film for Marvel, DC, Star Wars or Strek is perfectly fine with him.

Interacting with fans on Twitter, the cult director was asked whether he'd be fine looking back at his life someday and then see that he's never been able to direct some films. According to Smith, he'd be perfectly fine with it. Even though he loves "consuming" Star Wars, Star Trek, DC and Marvel movies, these weren't what the filmmaker wanted to do in film.

"I got into the biz to make Kevin Smith movies. They got plenty of people in Hollywood who wanna make big movies. But if I don't make Kevin Smith movies, then nobody will."

Though it's pretty understandable that Smith would want to direct his own films and make his own movies, some fans might be a bit surprised by Smith's answer. The cult director has always been a big fan of the franchises that he's named, and he's already been able to direct episodes of some of the many DC superhero shows of the CW. Smith also has a lot of opinions and ideas on what he would do if he were given the chance to direct a film in the Star Wars, Star Trek, Marvel and DC franchise. To some, it might actually sound like Smith's just settling.
