The big boss of Marvel has spoken and he admits that he still loves the reveal of who the Mandarin is in Iron Man 3 who turned out to be a fraud, an artist who just portrayed the role to carry the plans of the real villain of the film and divert the attention of the Tony Stark. Kevin Feige defends that he loved how such a twist was added and reveals that he is also excited to finally have the real one coming up in Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings.
In a recent interview with Rotten Tomatoes about the newest trailer of Shang-Chi, he now only shared his excitement for the upcoming Mandarin of Tony Leung, he said he remains to be a fan of the Mandarin that was revealed in Iron Man 3, the red herring to who the real villain is. He also looked back on the history of the character dating back to the first MCU film, Iron Man 1.
Feige shared, "So Shane Black (the director of Iron Man 3), in his film and his script that he co-wrote, came up with this fun twist that we love to this day, and it turned out to be Trevor Slattery. Just because that version wasn't real didn't mean there's not a leader of the Ten Rings organization, and that is who we meet for the first time in Shang-Chi."
On top of this, he also confirmed one of the buzzing theories surrounding the trailer and that it is, indeed, Wong having a fight with Abomination in the clip. He takes pride in the ability of the MCU to bring back someone who has been long absent and make some noise on his or her return. The upcoming film has a lot of callbacks which have been established almost a decade and a half ago making it more exciting to watch.
Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings will be the debut of the real Mandarin and it will be on September 3, 2021.
