Kathleen Kennedy Hopes The Next Star Wars Spin-Off Could Be Announced This Summer

After the success of Rogue One and the Han Solo movie currently underway, you bet Lucasfilm has several other anthology movies they have planned. The possibilities are endless, and Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy hopes that the next anthology film could be announced this summer.

In an interview with MTV, Kennedy says:

"I think we're getting close. My hope would be sometime around the summer. I never want to predict the creative process because it is its own thing, so we're in the midst of those discussions right now."

The movie on the top of most people's lists is probably the Obi-Wan Kenobi spinoff which would hopefully have Ewan McGregor back on board. There's also hope for a Boba Fett film that will be an ensemble piece that includes several other bounty hunters. Have you even heard of Guillermo del Toro's idea of a Godfather-inspired Jabba the Hutt movie?

As far as directors go, Lucasfilm is said to have been very happy with Rogue One that they're considering Gareth Edwards to direct another film in the franchise. Best guess is he'll be back to direct Obi-Wan, but we'll just have to wait for the official announcement.

Hopefully we get it soon.

The next anthology film will be Han Solo: A Star Wars Story, and it's set to come out on May 25, 2018.
