Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker Gets 3 Oscar Nominations

The 92nd Academy Awards nominations were just recently announced which reveals that the ninth and final installment of the Skywalker Saga gets nominated for 3 Academy Awards.

With Return of the Jedi being the first Star Wars film to get recognition for the visual effects award, there are high hopes for The Rise of Skywalker to receive the award once again after 36 years. Aside from the Best Visual Effects award, the movie is also nominated for Best Original Score and Best Sound Editing.

The Star Wars franchise has been fairly consistent in these categories. The Star Wars films preceding The Rise of Skywalker have earned 34 past nominations, with a total of 7 wins and 3 special achievement awards. And of course, John Williams has been consistent too. He is already even a record-breaker, with a total of 52 Oscar nominations in his career, making him the person with the most nominations ever.

Star Wars fans are definitely delighted with the news, but some were expecting that Adam Driver would be nominated for Best Actor in the Star Wars film. Regardless, the actor is indeed nominated for the coveted award, but for his movie Marriage Story.
