A few months ago, a Star Wars game titled Project Maverick was leaked onto PlayStation Network. Reports followed after regarding more details about the rumored game, with the upcoming EA Play Event expected to make an official announcement about it. Now, a new game has been reportedly leaked through the Xbox website, which is allegedly Project Maverick itself.

The leak comes in the form of a banner uploaded to the site. The banner includes artwork for the game, which appears to be showing pilots from the Rebels and the Empire posing side by side. There was also a pre-order button visible beside the artwork, but when clicked, it takes viewers to a broken link without any information provided. This led fans to assume that the game wasn't even supposed to be up on the website yet.

According to Venture Beat, this is the rumored Star Wars: Project Maverick game. The outlet also says sources familiar with the game's production claim that Star Wars: Squadrons is an "aerial/space combat game" where piloting ships go on head-to-head battles. It also has a single-player campaign, but the game allegedly mainly focuses on multiplayer. Squadrons basically pits players against each other using iconic Star Wars vessels.

As exciting as it is to finally have this kind of game available, the outlet points out that Squadrons is the result of EA wanting to release a new Star Wars game "relatively quickly." So fans and players should set their expectations accordingly as executives have deemed other Star Wars projects to be "too ambitious," maybe as opposed to this upcoming game.

The EA Play event was postponed to June 18. Star Wars: Squadrons will be reportedly released for PC and consoles this Fall.
