Star Wars: Squadrons has been officially announced, the first space combat game to be released in years for the franchise. Flying into Xbox One later this year, Star Wars fans are already excited for what's to come, and they'll be even more delighted with the confirmation that the game won't have a controversial feature.

Intense aerial dogfights and cool upgrades for starfighters are expected, but it is a little worrisome to do in terms of the microtransactions that'll be in the game. Fortunately, Squadrons' single and multiplayer mode won't have the said feature.

Microtransaction has long been a controversy amongst gamers, with Star Wars Battlefront II receiving backlash at launch, with the studio eventually dropping the feature.

Players will have multiple options for customizing their vehicles, making their ships stand out and become much more destructive. Instead of in-game purchases, these options will be unlocked through gameplay.

EA's decision to leave out microtransactions for Star Wars: Squadrons is certainly a plus for gamers, allowing them to have a full experience of the game. That said, the feature's absence doesn't necessarily mean that the studio will dump it all together, but it is notable and will surely be appreciated by gamers. There are also pre-order bonuses that'll give you access to New Republic Recruit and Imperial Ace cosmetic items on release.

Star Wars: Squadrons retails for $39.99 and is set for release this October 2nd on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
