While Star Wars: Jedi Temple Challenge isn't canon in the Star Wars lore, the game show still features elements that fit into it, including host Ahmed Best's character name which actually has a connection with that of Kylo Ren's.

In a recent appearance on the Coffee With Kenobi podcast, Best shares more details about his character, revealing that his character name, "Kelleran Beq," is meant to be a precursor for the name "Kylo Ren."

Best reiterated that his idea of Kelleran having a purple lightsaber is because "purple lightsaber wielders have an intimate relationship with both the Light Side and the Dark Side," adding that it takes a "special Jedi" to balance those two.

"'Kelleran' is a name that I came up with because I like this idea of names being derivatives," he continued. "'Wilhelm' automatically turns into 'William' after generations and generations and accents change and regions change and I wanted to find a way to tie the sequels and the prequels together in Kelleran Beq."

Best adds that because of Anthony Daniels, he played a character in Attack of the Clones named "Achk Med-Beq," which he thought was "duly named." In addition, to him, "Kelleran" sounds like the origins of Adam Driver's character name, making him want to have this as his root name. "And as you go down generations, you get to Kylo Ren," he added.

While this doesn't necessarily confirm both of the characters' motivations, it still adds some context as to how Ben Solo and the Knights of Ren could have learned about the Kelleran and possibly taking the name.
