Star Wars: Ahsoka Tano Was Almost Retconned Into Attack of the Clones

Known as Anakin Skywalker's Padawan, Ahsoka Tano was introduced in the Star Wars: The Clone Wars film back in 2008. She quickly became a fan-favorite character and has gone on to play a big role in the series. However, she was actually almost retconned into Attack of the Clones.

Vanity Fair recently made an Ahsoka Tano feature in which it highlights the history of the beloved character. "We called her Ashla in the beginning. That was 2005, and that worked on several levels for me," producer Dave Filoni revealed. "I think it was the name given to one of the [young Jedis Yoda was training] in Attack of the Clones. There was a little Togruta girl."

Filoni admitted that they "kicked around the idea" of Ashla actually being Ahsoka. However, they didn't go through with the retcon because the age "didn't really work out for it to be the same character" as she was "too young in the film."

Though this retcon is certainly intriguing, it's probably best that Filoni and the team didn't go with it. Ahsoka's age wouldn't have fit the timeline if she was meant to be fourteen years old in the film and is much younger in Attack of the Clones. After all, this is one of the many decisions that affected the character's future, who eventually appeared in more Star Wars projects, including in The Rise of Skywalker.
