Even though it's been more than a month since director Martin Scorsese's controversial "not cinema" comment made the rounds on the internet, debates are still ongoing with a handful of notable Marvel figures chiming in on the issue. And now, Hulk actor Mark Ruffalo expands more regarding the matter.

In a recent interview with Husam Sam Asi from BBC Cinematic to promote his new movie Dark Waters, Ruffalo was asked about his thoughts on Scorsese's opinion regarding Marvel movies. The actor says he would invite Scorsese to watch and sit in one of those movies along with an audience that gets "moved" by these films. He claims that he's never been in a movie where he has seen more people crying, screaming, and "being affected" as he had in Marvel movies.

Ruffalo also weighed in on Scorsese's recent op-ed article for The New York Times where the director voiced out his thoughts about the domination of comic book films. And how they are being highly-regarded compared to small-scale movies.

He also said that if we were to live in a world where "economics is how we measure the value of a society," he thinks that "whoever makes the biggest thing is going to dominate it." He adds, if that were to happen, of course, the people will try to make it again and again.

The actor also pointed out Scorsese's comment saying that he's not trying to tell people to subsidize films. However, Ruffalo thinks that's exactly what the director is trying to say. He then went on to suggest that we should have a "national endowment" of art that is solely dedicated to another kind of cinema. And stated that he would "love" to see Scorsese make this happen to let young and new talents, who aren't "driven by the marketplace but by the precepts of art," to participate in it. He said this because he thinks this is the "crux of this conversation."
