Mark Hamill Says Not Having A Joker Day Is A 'Stupid Mistake'

Compared to last year's date, Batman Day was celebrated on the 21st of September this year. DC made sure to go all out with the annual celebration for the Dark Knight as it is its 80th year as the World's Greatest Detective.

Collaborations were made by DC with comic book retailers, bookstores, schools, and libraries across the globe. There were comic book giveaways, events, and even a 5K marathon. Of course, they did not forget to light the skies of multiple cities by projecting the iconic Bat-Signal to commemorate the hero. Along with the release of the Bat-Tracker so fans could locate the said lighting and won't miss out on the festivities.

And as Batman Day ensued, lots of fans and people that were involved and attached to Batman took to social media to honor the hero. This includes Mark Hamill who served as a voice actor for Joker in various Batman animated projects for years. Such as Batman: The Animated Series, Batman Beyond: Return of the Joker, and Birds of Prey.

Hamill thanked the fans in campaigning for a Joker day and even joked about how it was a mistake that there isn't one. "Love all your support for a day recognizing the #ClownPrinceOfCrime," says Hamill.

He adds, "the fact there is no #JokerDay may be the biggest boner* of them all!*," clarifying that the word "boner" he used meant "a stupid mistake."

Of course, Hamill only tweeted this as a harmless joke and there aren't exactly plans for a Joker day, well, at least not yet.

While there isn't a Joker day to celebrate, the iconic villain will return in a movie directed by Todd Phillips starring Joaquin Phoenix. The movie follows the story of a struggling stand-up comedian named Arthur Fleck who eventually goes insane after being abused for years.

Joker premieres on October 4, 2019.
