The poster and character designs for Star Wars: Episode IX appear to have been leaked on Reddit. Naturally, a lot of details were revealed including what possibly may be a connection to Padme Amidala.

There is a new character named Zorii who is believed to be the character played by Keri Russell. She is speculated to be the "Mara" character from a leaked casting description.

Zorii appears in the leaked Star Wars: Episode IX poster next to Poe Dameron and BB-8. You also get a better look of the full-body design in a leaked character design. Unfortunately, both are not of the highest quality but you can see she has a purple getup, confirming a past leak. There appears to be no lightsaber in sight, just a blaster.

What is interesting is that her clothing resembles Padme's white outfit in Star Wars: Attack of the Clones, the one she wore during the Battle of Geonosis.

For those who don't remember, Padme was wearing a white jumpsuit and a tan utility belt plus an off-white shawl (although it was off for the entirety of the battle). She also sported a silver armband on each arm and tan boots with light shin armor.

This is the most practical attire the Senator wore since she is always in these elaborate outfits. So, it is easy to see that it may just be the go-to wear for non-Jedi warriors during battle. Could the similarity mean anything? It may be something or it's probably just reaching. Either way, it is a welcome design that is really cool.  Check out the leaked Star Wars: Episode IX images for yourself below:

The rumor is that Zorii is a bounty hunter. She wears a helmet like Boba Fett although the design would remind you more of Enfys Nest from Solo: A Star Wars Story. The character also has a utility belt as well as an armband like Padme, but it is larger and is colored gold. To be fair, a lot of bounty hunters and fighters wear a similar outfit although they almost always have shoulder armor as well as chest plates. Zorrii's outfit literally looks like the purple version of Padme's.

Star Wars: Episode IX will be the culmination of the Skywalker saga. It is supposed to contain elements from the prequel and original trilogies. Perhaps this may be a nod to Padme, if not a direct connection.

The speculation is that Russell will play the role of either Sabine Wren or Zam Wessel. The designs for these characters are very different from that of Zorii, which means that she may be a different character altogether or Disney and Lucasfilm just made some changes to hide the character's identity. After all, with the risk of leaks like this, even an outfit can be a major spoiler.

Russell recently revealed to Stephen Colbert during her appearance at The Late Show that her role in Star Wars: Episode IX is bigger than she expected. There's no way of knowing what this really means until the film's release, but it has an implication that it will at least be greater than that of Benicio Del Toro's character, DJ. Perhaps Zorii's story is connected to all the main characters.

Star Wars: Episode IX hits the cinemas December 20.
