There's been a continuous build-up for Todd Phillips' upcoming movie, Joker. The Clown Prince of Crime's unceasing fame carries on throughout the years with numerous film adaptation for the infamous Batman villain.
Adding to all the excitement is a newly released poster which features a stunning image of the iconic villain.
DC and Warner Bros. received underwhelming reviews from Justice League, resulting in them focusing on standalone films, with movies like Wonder Woman, Aquaman, and Shazam! being a hit among the fans.
It's looking good for both DC and Warner Bros. with Joker garnering positive remarks from critics and fans. With a rating of 70% from Metacritic and 75% on Rotten Tomatoes. And even taking home the Golden Lion at the 2019 Venice Film Festival as well as a potential Best Picture Award.
Along with Joaquin Phoenix playing as Joker, the film also features the cast of Robert De Niro, Zazie Beetz, Frances Conroy, Marc Maron, and Brian Tyree Henry.
In spite of the film's early success and the fans' anticipation, director Todd Phillips is set on only one film and has no plans of making a sequel. Saying that he only pitched it as one movie and that it only aims to reflect their own representation of the villain's story. This movie isn't connected with the other DCEU movies as well as any comic book storylines.
Phillips' Joker surrounds the story of a struggling stand-up comedian named Arthur Fleck who eventually goes insane after being abused for years.
The new poster released by IMAX shows what seems to be a handpainted version of the infamous Joker. Wearing the same suit and make-up as he did with the other ones. Standing tall, he poses mockingly yet magnificently in front of a burning car, basking in the grandeur of his insanity.
Joker premieres on October 4, 2019.
