After years of online campaigns and petitions, Zack Snyder's version of the Justice League will finally be released on HBO Max. This announcement has led to discussions about the movement setting a precedent and its effect on the industry and the fans' expectations of other directors' cuts. In a recent interview with the streaming platform's head of original content, she was asked whether filmmakers might demand a similar treatment as well.

"I don't worry about it opening up a Pandora's box," Sarah Aubrey told The Hollywood Reporter. "It's not going to be one size fits all." As for the Snyder Cut, Aubrey says they already consider it as a "success" considering all the press and talks that have been surrounding its release.

While talks about Zack Snyder's Justice League mostly revolves around the difference between the theatrical cut and Snyder's version, part of the discussions also considers its effect in the long run. The Snyder Cut release can be a motivation for other filmmakers to hold onto their original visions and it could also serve as a huge example for healthy discussions about director's cuts in the future.

In a previous interview, Tony Goncalves, CEO of AT&T's Otter Media division, pointed out that while they "have to listen" to what the consumers are saying, like what happened with the Snyder Cut movement, this doesn't necessarily mean that they are "going to redo every movie ever made."
