Ewan McGregor made his debut in the Star Wars franchise with The Phantom Menace, he eventually reprised his role as Obi-Wan Kenobi in two more prequel films. Set to return as the Jedi Master in an upcoming Disney+ series, the actor admits he's pumped for the show, even more than he was for the prequel films.

"I'm more excited about doing this one than I was doing the second and third one that we did before," McGregor told Empire. "I'm just excited about working with Deborah Chow, and the storylines are going to be really good I think."

McGregor says it's been "long enough" since he last portrayed Obi-Wan, so he's excited to "play" the character again for the Disney+ show.

At the time the prequel films were released, the studio was at the "very beginning" of digital photography. "We had a camera with an umbilical cord to a tent, it was like back to the beginning of movies where the camera didn't move very much because there was so much hardware attached to it," the actor added. "Now we're going to be able to really create stuff without swathes of green-screen and blue-screen, which becomes very tedious for the actor."

After having last played Obi-Wan in 2005's Revenge of the Sith, we're excited to see McGregor take his character into new heights, to see and learn more about his adventures to come in the series.

The Obi-Wan Kenobi Disney+ series is yet to have an official release date, but McGregor revealed earlier this week that the show is expected to start production in the spring.
