When Captain Marvel was initially released in theaters, fans were divided about the movie, as well as their opinion on lead actress Brie Larson. Larson received quite a backlash since the movie's debut but it seems like the actress wasn't aware of that.

Brie Larson recently had an interview with Variety where she revealed that she didn't know the people's opinion about her. Journalist Kate Aurthur brought up the topic about Captain Marvel; how some comic fans "were rooting against it because it had a woman lead character," and also because of Larson's politics. Aurthur shared that people made YouTube videos about "wanting the movie to bomb."

Brie Larson replied, "They did? Oh. I didn't even know," suggesting that she was never aware of such criticisms prior to the movie's release.

"I don't have time for it, you know?" Larson says. She adds, "the things that I have extra time to really look at are like: Am I eating healthy food? Am I drinking water? Am I meditating? Have I called my mom today?"

Larson thinks the reason that a lot of journalists ask her whether or not she Googles herself is because of the movie Captain Marvel. To which she reveals that she has never done that.

"I have genuinely never needed to look at the internet to explain to me who I am," she adds. "I'm extremely committed to that in my day-to-day life! There is really nothing more pleasurable to me than observing my mind. And interrogating myself."

The actress then affirms that that was the one thing she has done ever since she was a kid and she plans to do it as long as she can. She adds that "her energy is so limited" so she would rather spend it on something she likes. Larson perceives such criticisms as something "that's just not what's of interest" to her.

This might be a bit confusing to some since Brie Larson previously addressed some comments about her. For example, she responded on Instagram with Photoshopped images of Iron Man, Doctor Strange, and Captain America smiling when someone pointed out her facial expressions as well as her lack of smile in the Captain Marvel trailer.

She also explained this in an interview with Kevin Polowy saying, "That's just a depiction of the female experience. That's just what it's like." She shares that she didn't get bothered when she saw the people's reaction on the trailer "because that's how it goes."

Larson then later appeared in a video with Wired which is literally a video about Googling one's self. But the actress mentioned in the video that it was her first time ever Googling herself.

There's no telling if Brie Larson wasn't actually aware of such comments about her when the Captain Marvel movie was released, especially when she sometimes responds to some.

Maybe she doesn't really Google herself, rather she was just made aware of the people's reactions by others. What do you think of Larson's statement about being unaware of these criticisms?

Brie Larson is set to appear in more Marvel films in the future since she signed for five more movies with the company.
