In the closing scenes of Avengers: Endgame, Chris Evans' Captain America made the decision to go back in time to return the Infinity Stones and live out his life with Peggy Carter. The Russo Brothers weren't able to explore the hero's journey through time, but fans are holding out hope for this to happen in the near future.

In a recent interview with ComicBookMovie, Joe and Anthony Russo were asked whether Cap's trip through time needs to be told and if they'd like to be the ones to tell that story. "It would be a great story to tell, no question," Joe said. "I don't know whether it needs to be told."

He added that it would still be a "great" story to tell and that they'd love to relay what happened in Cap's journey through time. However, the director notes that there are other stories to "move on to now."

As exciting as it is to be able to explore that narrative, Captain America has reached his resolution in Endgame, wrapping up the beloved hero's time in the MCU. In addition, Evans is also content with his exit from the role, making it unlikely that the actor and the directors will make their return soon. It'll probably be a good spin-off for a future project, but for now, Cap's trip through time will be left to the fans' imagination.
