Jeph Loeb Defends Marvel’s Inhumans

While Marvel's track record has been pretty good for their movies, it's been rather hit and miss for their television shows. For all the praise shows like Daredevil and Jessica Jones get, there are mixed bags like Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and disappointments like Iron Fist. Things look even worse for Marvel's Inhumans, which has a really low score in Rotten Tomatoes, though the show's TV Head, Jeph Loeb, stands by its vision.

During an interview with CBR, Loeb defended the decision to keep Inhumans as a television show rather than a movie. He feels that television shows give more time for the development of characters, as well as building up stories and subplots. To be fair, Loeb isn't wrong, as shows like Luke Cage and Jessica Jones have shown what extended development can do for characters.

Loeb also stated the following about the show:

"We never really approached it as something that was going to be spectacle first and family second, and so I think one of the things that we do well is to ground our characters, to be able to take the time in order to get to know our villains... This was an opportunity for us to be able to tell a story about people."

Marvel's Inhumans is slated for a September 29 release on ABC. Can the show overcome the negative stigma it's gotten and surprise everyone with its first eight episode season? Fans can only hope, given how compelling the characters are in the comic books.
