Zendikar Rising Leak Reveals New Magic: The Gathering Card From The Next Set

The next Magic: The Gathering set Zendikar Rising was officially revealed last month at the Mark Rosewater's Comic-Con@Home panel but Wizards of the Coast did not reveal any new cards from the set. Since the product won't be released until this September, the official previews probably won't begin until later this month, but one card has apparently been leaked, and it's a rare land called Crawling Barrens.

Redditor Baldesarini has shared a photo of Crawling Barrens, a rare land that can tap to add colorless mana, and for 4 mana, you can put two +1+1 counters on it and it becomes a 0/0 Elemental creature until end of turn. Based on the photo, the art was illustrated by Jonas de Ro.

Zendikar Rising Leak - Crawling Barrens

WotC hasn't officially confirmed if this card is actually in the set, but I won't be surprised if this is real. Zendikar Rising will be the third visit in the plane known for its lands, and just like previous Zendikar sets, the new one will most likely feature many nonbasic land cards like Crawling Barrens. A land that can keep getting more +1+1 counters looks viable in Standard. You can also pump it without making it a creature, so you can wait until it gets bigger before turning it into a creature for the big swing.

Zendikar Rising is set to release on September 25, 2020; it will release on MTG Arena on Sept. 17.
