Netflix's New Squid Game Trailer Turns Children's Games Into A Bloody Survival Competition

Netflix has released a new trailer for Squid Game, a stylish South Korean thriller that features 450 struggling people who are invited to participate in a mysterious competition to win ₩45.6 billion ($39 million USD). All they have to do is play children's games, but they're definitely not for children, and the consequences of losing are deadly. Oh, and those who refuse to play will be eliminated, so quitting is not an option.

Written and directed by Hwang Dong-hyuk, Squid Game, initially titled Round Six, stars Lee Jung-jae as Ki-hoon, who participates in the game after suffering from business failure, debt, divorce, and gambling issues. The 8-episode Netflix original series also stars Park Hae-soo, Oh Young-soo, Wi Ha-joon,, Jung Ho-Yeon, Heo Sung-tae, Lee Ji-ha, Kim Joo-ryung, and Tripati Anupam.

The new trailer features a look at the show's dystopian world with masked guards in red jump suits (reminds me of Money Heist's gang but with different masks), and there's the insane amount of cash prize for the one who can win all six games. Fans of Netflix's Japanese original series Alice in Borderland or other survival titles like Hunger Games would probably enjoy this show.
