Magic: The Gathering Might Be Heading to Vryn, Jace's Homeplane, After Zendikar Rising

Wizards of the Coast has already revealed the names of the four Magic: The Gathering sets coming next year. Theros: Beyond Death, Ikoria: Lair of Behemoths, Core Set 2021, and Zendikar Rising will be released in 2021, and even though we still don't know the name of the set after Zendikar Rising, one fan has brought up an interesting theory that shows that Magic may be heading to Jace's homeplane, Vryn.

Wizards of the Coast hasn't revealed a lot of details about the world of Vryn. All we know is that it's the homeplane of Jace, and that there are lines of gigantic inhabited mage-rings found littered across Vryn. The mage-rings are conduits of mana controlled by ring mages, and the Core States, found in the middle of the ring network, gather all the energy of an entire continent for use by the mage elite from the Ampryn League.

Redditor CompleteIndie's theory suggests that Magic is heading to Vryn after Zendikar Rising. He pointed out how the new Karn artwork (shown below) that was never featured in a Magic set featured details that resemble the artworks for Vryn. Check out the Karn here:

"So, we can see the Mage-Rings in "Jace, Vryn's Prodigy," "Mage-Ring Network", "Leap of Faith", and "Flood of Memory," CompleteIndie explained. "These somewhat resemeble the gateways and arches of Karn's artwork — remember; the Mage-Rings are Vryn's defining feature, they wouldn't be excluded."

The theory went on to point out the circles in the Vryn artworks that resemble the new Karn artwork: "Notably, in all the pieces, with the exception of "Last-Second Rescue", we can circles. The mage-rings in the four prior cards, the shape of chairs in "Smug Tactician" and "Send to Sleep", Alhammaret's collar and the gateways in "Sphinx's Tutelage" and "Clash of Wills" and the "Map of Vryn" have tons (the map symbols, the globe, the object holding the globe there)."

And if you notice the towers in the background of the "Clash of Wills" art below, you'd notice that they have the same shape as the tower in the background of the new Karn art.

The theory also points out the rectangular buildings that have slightly-rusted appearances in the Karn artwork look similar to what we've seen in the "Jace, Vryn's Prodigy" art.

Finally, the theory points out the grass surroundings in the Karn art may suggest that he's right next to the Mage-Rings as the "Mage-Ring Network" art features grass nearby.

It looks like Magic is heading to Vryn in the near future. The world kind of reminds me of the world seen in the Dune novel by Frank Herbert. It seems that they are taking a year off from featuring the Gatewatch after the epic events of War of the Spark, and returning to Zendikar next year suggests that the Gatewatch planeswalkers will be back, and Jace's homecoming would be interesting to see.
