Magic: The Gathering In-Store Suspension Extended to June 1

Local game stores where Magic: The Gathering events take place are still temporarily closed due to the COVID-19 pandemic for the safety of the Magic community and to comply with social distancing standards. Today, Wizards of the Coast has announced that it's extending the suspension of in-store MTG events for retailers in their Wizards Play Network (WPN) to June 1, and this includes all Ikoria: Lair of Behemoths events, except for At-Home Prerelease. Wizards cancelled existing scheduled MTG events, and they removed event scheduling from Wizards Event Reporter.

"For the continued safety of the Magic community, the current suspension of in-store play has been extended until at least June 1," WotC stated in the WPN website. "We will continue to monitor the situation and make any further adjustments to in-store play, accounting for regional variance, as appropriate."

Earlier this month, Wizards announced a new way to enable players to support their Local Game Stores (LGS) with a special Buy-a-Box pre-order promotion for Ikoria: Lair of Behemoths called "Be Your Store's Champion." The company will also allocate $10 million worth of Mystery Booster packs to WPN stores.
